You’ve seen the TikToks that urge you to start romanticizing your life and you’ve heard influencers gush about how the law of attraction helped them accomplish their goals. Maybe you’ve even heard about that Jim Carrey story where he wrote himself a $10 million check, dated it 10 years in the future, and then made that exact amount 10 years later. At this point, it’s been day way too long in quarantine, and with no real end in sight, you’re probably willing to try anything… so, why not manifesting? We’re sure you have some questions, but lucky for you,  MIIM, along with Jessica Smith, author of the self-discovery journal and book, Your Twenties, are here to help you incorporate manifesting into your daily life to achieve your dreams.

What even is manifesting?

While there’s a lot of different ways to practice manifesting and people can get very, let’s just say, creative about it—we know you’ve seen the 3-6-9 manifesting method on TikTok—it’s actually as simple as another way to think about goals.

“It’s a goal, but with a co-creation aspect to it,” Smith explains. “It’s a yes, I am going to take responsibility for all the actions that I am being told to do from an internal standpoint.”

This “co-creation aspect” of manifestation that merges believing in something bigger than just you while also holding yourself accountable is a key part of the practice that many people forget. After all, nothing achievable in life happens without a little hard work!

Okay, so how do I start?

The first thing you need to do at the beginning of your manifestation journey is to be extremely clear about what your intentions are and what you want. Smith describes your intention as your North Star, or something you’ll always come back to if you remain focused. Next, concentrate your energy toward calling that specific thing into your life and speak it, write it, whatever feels best for you.

While it’s important to stay centered on what you’re attempting to manifest, don’t beat yourself up if you veer off track for a little while. Smith specifically discourages people from thinking that they have to stay 100% positive at all times or be completely laser-focused on their meditation 24/7. After all, we’re all human, we make mistakes, we get busy, and the universe understands that.

Am I doing this right?

While there’s no one right way to manifest, as long as your intention is genuine, and you feel comfortable and confident enough with yourself to truly know what you truly want, there’s nothing that you can’t summon into your life.

“Knowing yourself, and being in your body is the best thing you can do to help get you to where you want to go or call things in, whether it be a relationship, or new job, or house or whatever,” Smith says. “As long as you stay centered in what's true for you, and you don’t let what you want or those intentions be swayed by external people or factors, then, you'll have more of a pure grounded experience through life.”

That being said, go write yourself a check for $10 million and happy manifesting!
