“Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” We all know Miranda Priestly’s most iconic line from ‘The Devil Wears Prada’. Truth is, it plays repeatedly in our heads as we scroll the pages of our preferred online fashion publications and the new releases at our favorite stores this time of year. There’s no denying that flower power has –and will always be– a staple of upcoming spring fashion, so we’re suggesting our favorite florals and four other fun patterns and color combinations to integrate into your wardrobe this spring!

Floral

This may be the obvious choice as warmer weather heads our way, but there are some not-so-obvious ways to wear it! From accessorizing with a brooch of a bloom à la Carrie Bradshaw, to a blouse speckled with the occasional flower, donning florals doesn’t have to mean being covered in a tacky daisy print from head to toe. A monochromatic floral print provides a pop of color, and a subtlety that isn’t too over the top.

 Houndstooth

Houndstooth is a pattern that should have a home in everyone’s closet. The classic black and white version of the print can become spring-friendly by adding a pop of color. If you opt for a houndstooth blazer and skirt set, add a top in Pantone’s color of 2021 to make a statement. If you want the houndstooth to be the statement itself, try a pink houndstooth patterned skirt or blazer!

 Gingham

A pastel gingham set is the perfect way to channel the warm spring sun. It’s perfect for either a picnic in the park or a stroll to your favorite brunch locale. Accessorize with some kitten heels, cute sunnies, and your sleekest bun for a chic look fit for the Hamptons or Hell’s Kitchen.

Stripes

From pinstripes to candy stripes, your options are endless. You can keep it simple with neutrals or go for bold, bright colors. A lightweight striped sweater can pair perfectly with jeans and tennis shoes for a comfortable and relaxed look.

Plaid

From girly to grunge, back are the days of plaid! Clueless-esque coordinating sets and flannel shackets reminiscent of 1993 Nirvana are all back for another go-round. But if channeling your inner Cher Horowitz or Kurt Cobain doesn’t suit your style, a minimalist plaid is the perfect pattern for a cute jumpsuit. Dress it up with stilettos and a clutch or go casual with some cute studded sandals and a crossbody bag.
