A major theme of 2020 fashion has undoubtedly been comfort. Nearly every brand and retailer was —and still is— selling comfy clothes to support work from home and cater to all the quarantine vibes.  Especially in the current climate, supporting local stores and shopping sustainably are very important this season.  Whether it is following a small business on Instagram or liking a post, no deed goes unnoticed.  In today’s look for less, comfort is key and big-box trends can be easily recreated. So, gather up some friends and hit up some local thrift stores for inexpensive fashion that you can create yourself. We all love a quarantine DIY, right?

Sequin Loungewear

Sequins are not a new holiday concept.  They come around year after year and continue to be fabulous.  Go to a local thrift store and pick up a pair of joggers or wide-leg pants.  Next, find all over sequin fabric at your local craft store along with fabric glue.  Cut trims of sequins to your desired length and glue.  This is super easy, sustainable and a comfortable holiday-ready loungewear look.

Chunky Knit Sweaters Paired with Vintage Denim

Chunky knits mixed with a mom jean is the perfect pairing for winter festivities.  These garments are readily available at a local thrift store.  Knits can be thrifted in a variety of colors and sizes for any desired look and paired with dark or light wash denim. You can even spice it up by added patches to your favorite finds.

Mini Shoulder Bag Season

The 2000s are back and with that comes mini bags.  All one needs to pack is a mask, some hand sanitizer, a wallet, phone and keys while still having room for more in this trendy bag.  Since this was a previous trend, thrift stores are filled with vintage designer mini bags from Coach to Kate Spade that may just need a bit of TLC to look nice and new again.  With less places to go, less is needed and these bags are perfect for just that.  Just remember, Razor phones are optional.
