How to Turn Your Side Hustle into a Full-Time Business

April 17, 2017 in career advice, fashion

There's nothing more frustrating that working a 9 to 5 job you're not passionate about. When that happens, it often helps to find a side project you can focus your energy in to re-excite you! But, what happens when that side project begins to takeover, should you fully pursue it? Or should you knock out the flame before it gets any bigger? Well, if you're asking us, the answer is go for it! Follow your passion with full force. But, before you take that leap of faith, below, are 5 ways to turn your side hustle into a full-time business, good luck!

Make it your Priority

Don't only leave time to work on your side hustle Sunday night at 8pm. Whether it's passing on after work drinks or staying up a little later on a Wednesday night, do all you can to make your side hustle your main focus. The more time you put into it now, the easier it will be to transition out of your 9 to 5 job and into your 24/7 job.

Test The Waters

While you have the comfort of your full-time job, and a steady salary, test the waters. Test everything out, especially anything that might be a huge risk when you don't have a steady income to back you up. Testing things makes way for trial and error- plus it will give you a better idea if your company is worthwhile before you jump ship.

Today is YOUR Day

There is never going to be a "perfect time" to purse your dreams. Everyday it's easy to say "I'll take the plunge tomorrow" or "I'll be ready in six months." In all honesty you will never really be ready. So it's best to just take the leap and figure it out. There is no time like the present. Now is your time. As the saying goes, you're not getting any younger. So now is the time to start your blog, clothing line, app etc. believe us, your future self will thank you for it.

Network

Networking is key! Especially when you are trying to get the word out about a startup. And yes, you are now a start up- congrats! Use every opportunity, whether you're out to dinner with friends or shopping in Soho. Be ready should you run into someone who could potentially help you. That means having a stack of business cards ready, and an active website or social media account you can direct them to!

Believe in Yourself

And at the end of the day, you must fully believe in yourself. No one is going to believe in and fight for your idea as much as you are. If your heart is 110% in it then go for it, odds are if you really believe in your product and are willing to work harder than you ever have- you will be successful!
