Vacation season is *finally* here! While planning is super exciting, packing can be an absolute nightmare. Take the stress out of figuring out what to pack for your next vacation by having go-to, versatile pieces that not only travel well, but are also compact enough to fit the more important things (souvenirs, anyone?) And because at MIIM we are all about making packing as painless and worry-free as possible,  we put together this travel check list and style tips (à la Caroline, herself) for your next weekend trip to the beach or that tropical getaway you've been looking forward to all year.

Versatile Sunnies

The guaranteed one item you will be constantly wearing, be sure to find a pair that is versatile enough for the beach, but that can also transition to happy hour at the Tiki Bar.

Embellished Sun Hats

We all love some Vitamin D and that summer glow, but protecting your number one (i.e your face) is super important as sun damage happens and happens FAST! Be sure to pack a hat to give yourself extra protection and extra panache for those cute bikinis and cover ups.

Little Summer Dresses

Dresses were basically made for vacationing. They are lightweight, compact, and super versatile.

CAROLINE STYLE TIP: Make your dress do double duty as a cover up during the day and a sultry showstopper at night.

Swimwear

If we really needed to remind you. Since you'll basically be in one of these your entire trip, we recommend packing two: a bikini option for sunning, and a one piece that you can easily pair under a pair of shorts or a skirt- for more active adventures like snorkeling or wave surfing.

Cover Up

While not every summer dress you bring will be appropriate to do double duty, it is most definitely a good idea to bring a cover up. We are loving this one sailor-inspired one from ASOS.

Multi-Purpose Sandals

Packing can be tight when you’re traveling, so having a pair of sandals that you can wear with any outfit should absolutely be on your packing list!

Beach Bag

There is nothing worse than forever having sand spill out of your Gucci bag after trying to use it at the beach. So, take it from us, invest in a beach bag that can not only hold everything you need (book, beach towel, sunscreen, lip balm...the list goes on) but also that is "sand proof," like this straw version from Nordstrom.
