Rihanna is avante garde and revolutionary in every industry she confidently struts her faux fur sandals into. In music, she has received 9 Grammy awards and 14 of her singles have reached number one on the Billboard Charts. In beauty, she has created a multi-million dollar empire, Fenty Beauty, focused on diversity and inclusivity that has other brands falling at her heels. In fashion, her SAVAGE x FENTY lingerie company has reached a billion dollar valuation and she became the first Black woman to head an LVMH house with Fenty’s introduction into the conglomerate in 2019.

In 2014, she accepted the CFDA’s Style Icon Award covered head to toe in sheer fabric, swarovski crystals and pink fur, one of her most iconic fashion moments. Although often presenting daring looks at formal events, Rihanna is equally bold in her street style. In celebration of Rihanna as a fashion icon, we have rounded up Rihanna’s best street style looks with innovative twists that defy style rules and prove her as a true fashion chameleon!

CFDA Flashbacks and Summer Fur

Recently, Rihanna’s outfit went viral as she stepped out in NYC with A$AP Rocky. Wearing a sheer 2002 John Galliano Dior slip dress, Dior chain necklace, Tom Ford sandals, Fendi shoulder bag, and Emma Brewin faux fur hat, we are getting flashbacks to her iconic CFDA look!

More is More is More

Anna Wintour stated when presenting Rihanna with her CFDA award, “It’s fun to feel a little boy-ish one day and dress up like a dazzling diva the next,” which is a philosophy Rihanna masters. Wearing a Supreme hat, Gucci scarf, Vetements jacket, and Fenty Puma by Rihanna shoes, she disproves the “more is less” rule.

Shameless Self Promo

Confidence makes an outfit which is why Rihanna seems to look good in everything she wears. Wearing her own merch t-shirt, a red silk dress, and a fur stole that is a signature element of many of her looks, everything about this look is bold. It is also a great example of her seamless mixing of casual and elegant.

Holiday Trimmings

For a NYC New Year’s Eve celebration, Rihanna touted an all fur Fendi bodycon mini dress in soothingly soft pinks and contrasting snowy white. The accent of fur around the ankles and dazzling bow earrings bring to mind all the trimmings of the holiday season. The fluffy stole (once again!) steals the show and gives a flirty foxy look that is Rihanna from head to toe.

Chocolate Monochrome

There is nothing dull about this monochromatic chocolate ensemble. From the tip of each studded gloved finger to the pop of white pumps, this look is representative of Rihanna’s love for mixing hard and soft. Wearing sheer Supriya Lele brown trousers paired with a color matched Saint Laurent leather blazer, she knows how to make a traditionally simple look as interesting as it could possibly be!

A Seasonless Love Story

Rihanna’s faux fur signature enters into a new dimension as she wears her love for the style like a warm embrace. She pairs her heart-shaped Saint Laurent cape with cut-off jean shorts, strappy sandals, and a baseball hat. Her styling makes it almost impossible to tell whether this look was worn in winter or summer, showing that she not only transcends styles but seasons as well!

The Bigger (and Puffier!) the Better

This Paris street look is the definition of Rihanna’s slogan, “she can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit.” Wearing another monochromatic pink look, she pairs an explicit Vetements tee with an oversized swirl embroidered Ella Boucht puffer coat. Her ultra-feminine pieces are often paired with one avante garde twist that is sure to make everyone in her path look twice!
