Have you ever noticed how your hair looks blindingly shiny when you leave the salon, but becomes progressively duller as the weeks wear on? Between color fading, washing, and harsh outdoor elements, even the glassiest of hair can go dull. Luckily, there are a few quick fixes to give hair a shot of shine. Below, the best tried and true formulas.

Rita Hazan True Color Ultimate Shine Gloss

Colorist extraordinaire Rita Hazan may have created the easiest — and most effective — way to breathe life back into your locks. Apply the moussey formula after shampooing, leave in for literally a hot sec (the instructions say you can rinse “immediately”) and continue your regular routine. The results? A subtle yet healthy-looking sheen.

Caviar Anti-Aging 3 Minute Shine Boost

Don’t let the name fool you: this is not your grandma’s gloss. The formula temporarily seals the hair cuticle, making every strand more susceptible to light bounce-back (aka shine!) Plus, it doubles as a weekly deep conditioning treatment.

Madison Reed Color Reviving Gloss

You only need to use this gel like mask once every 2-4 weeks for glossier tresses. We love the clear coat, but the gloss also comes in a range of shades targeted to reduce brassiness or add warmth, depending on what you’re going for.

DPHUE Color Boosting Gloss

Calling all girls with color-treated hair: This cult classic gloss is a must for keeping (expensive!) color radiant between salon visits. The product comes in a range of four shades (blonde, brown, red, and black) which deposit a teeny, tiny amount of semi-permanent pigment to give your hair that just-colored vibrancy.

Oribe Glaze for Beautiful Color

As with all of Oribe’s hair products, this glaze smells absolutely divine and works like magic. Plus, it’s simple: Use once a week in place of your regular conditioner and there’s no need to hassle with an extra product in your routine. Aside from depositing mega-watt shine, the treatment also provides UV protection, which shields strands from drying out under the sun. Admittedly, this one is a bit of a splurge, but there’s no denying that the bottle is a luxurious accessory to any shower.
