5 Lessons We Learned From Our Second Mentor Monday's With Bloomingdales

On Monday, October 21st, Caroline hosted the second Making It In Manhattan Mentor Monday’s in collaboration with Bloomingdales. Open to the public, the series of panels highlights remarkable women sharing how they built their careers and got to where they are today.

This month’s panel featured four amazing women across a variety of industries. For starters, Ashli is the founder and CEO of the lifestyle brand Sunday Forever. She sells “Nice Things” ranging from candles to kimonos and crystals.

Julie Mollo is a self-proclaimed “Brooklyn-based bag lady” creating a series of glitter clutches that are too fun not to use at every opportunity. The sparkly pizza option may just be the perfect combination we never knew we needed. Oh and did we mention she started her career designing clothing for Katy Perry?

Daniella Yacobovsky is the co-founder of BaubleBar, everyone’s favorite jewelry company (and for good reason).

Christina Lord, the senior designer of Le Mystere is helping shape the intimates industry while acting as a mentor of sorts to students at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Here are some of their key takeaways….

Be Nice to Everyone! You never know how someone you meet could impact your career.

Don’t be Afraid to Reach out! Julie began her relationship with Katy Perry simply by sending a message to her manager on MySpace!

Love What you Do! As most women mentioned when you’re an entrepreneur you work 24/7 so you really have to love it!

Just Go for It! You’ve spent too much time behind your desk at your job you hate. Invest in yourself and take a risk.

Your Voice Matters! As a lingerie designer Christina shared with us that she constantly is on social media listening to her customers to make them love shopping for lingerie and to feel confidence, sexy, and comfortable.

Stay tuned for the next Mentor Monday’s coming next month!
